Kendall offers therapy for children and adolescents.  She has special training and expertise working with adolescents struggling with self-harm.  Kendall specializes in the areas of mood disorders, challenging children, depression, and self-harm.

Kendall’s goal is to help children and adolescents reach their full potential by using skills that will help them deal with not only their current problems but also future problems they may encounter. Kendall helps teens develop and set their personal goals, helps them understand themselves better, and gives them the support and tools needed for them to cope and handle big feelings.

Kendall helps depressed and anxious teens stop self-harming and feel worthy enough to belong so they can live a life they love.  She works with teens that are sabotaging their happiness with behaviors like cutting, substance abuse and opposition to authority by finding the balance of accepting them for who they are and helping them change the behaviors that make their lives more difficult.

Kendall Barry, LPC helps teens who are self-harming develop a plan to move from being stuck and struggling to being safe and successful.

Kendall uses a variety of evidence-based strategies that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, psychoeducation, and crisis intervention/safety planning to help provide the skills teens need to change their thoughts and behaviors and to develop healthy coping skills in order to obtain their goals.

Kendall Barry is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a Master’s degree in counseling from Spring Arbor University. Kendall has nine years of experience working in the human services field; including several years as a foster care case worker, a home-based therapist through Community Mental Health, and a therapist through the juvenile court system working with children involved in the legal system. Kendall has experience working with children, teens, and families who have experienced abuse/neglect, trauma, and substance abuse.
