Pam Schuen, MA, MLP

Limited Licensed Psychologist / Therapist

You have always known how you want your home and family to feel, how you want to feel as a parent and as a person—nurturing, calm, organized, and energetic. And maybe life has thrown you a curve ball. You’ve just had a baby and you are more stressed than you expected to be. You and your spouse parent differently. Your adopted child or neuro-diverse child’s needs feel overwhelming. Your second child is harder to parent than your first. It’s hard to adjust to new custody routines. Your child is in therapy but you need support for yourself. You’re a sandwich caregiver raising your own children and caring for your parents and feel that you’ve lost yourself. Pam supports parents and caregivers as they embrace the challenges of parenting throughout the lifespan.

Pam Schuen, MA, MLP, specializes in parent support and adult development.

Almost everyone has survived some kind of trauma. Often it is relational Infant Mental Health Kalamazlootrauma that we remember from our childhood—being teased, bullied, harassed, humiliated, shamed, abandoned, ignored, neglected, or abused.  The antidote to trauma is experiencing a secure connection, attachment, or healthy relationship!  The practice of infant mental health is the belief that “the relationship between the caregiver and child is the client.”  That means that relationships from the past, present, and future are the place where we will wander together to learn how to understand and nurture ourselves and our children.  In a safe setting, you and your young child will learn to quiet home of the inner chaos and find yours you partner with me, and will identify your needs for support and action. Together, we can address trauma and recover resilience. Resilience might include the cultivation of self-nurturing and productive rest, practicing healthy boundaries, and assertive communication. Together, we can help you feel confident as a parent, as “the therapist in the home.” We can help you remember to enjoy your individual growth and development and the health you deserve resilience and reconnect.  Pam helps parents create a playful and emotionally safe space to connect in meaningful ways with their children.  She helps you move through growing pains together and discover the health you deserve.
