Lawrence Stankus, MA, LPC
Larry Stankus is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 16 years of experience working with children, teens, and young adults. He received his master’s degree in school counseling from Western Michigan University. Larry has extensive experience supporting clients who have experienced traumatic events or complex trauma by providing trauma-informed care. In addition, he has a wealth of experience working with children and adolescents who experience anxiety, depression, ADHD symptoms, loss, and grief.
In practice, Larry utilizes various evidence-based strategies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Motivational Interviewing. Larry also educates clients on how their symptoms can impact their mental and physical health and helps them create strategies to improve their well-being.
Larry’s experiences include school-based therapy in a public school setting, home-based therapy, and individual and group counseling sessions. Larry has helped families in the juvenile court system and has worked with children and teens who have experienced abuse/neglect and trauma.
Larry believes in meeting clients where they are at and seeks to provide a safe environment where clients feel heard and not judged. He provides empathetic and compassionate connections with clients and wants them to feel that they can use their time to talk through their concerns and difficult emotions. Larry wants clients to be able to unpack their feelings and know someone is there to help them.
